Re: Her Majesty vs, Paul & Saul

To whom it may concern;

Whether we win, lose or draw, contesting these two alleged violations of C-24.2 is a frustrating, tiresome and expensive process. We entirely believe in the penal justice system, the police and the need to enforce the law of the land. What we cannot, will never tolerate, is police abuse in any form. Aggressive language, intimidation of any sort, impoliteness, general intolerance, racial, sexual or ethnic prejudice is inadmissible in our country and unworthy of police officers. The gun swinging, all out tactics of the American police, as seen on the "COPS" TV show and in Hollywood films, might be tolerated in a land where "everyone" can and does own firearms... however, it is not an option here in Canada where ALL firearms are illegal.

From personal experience with several younger members of the S.Q. or municipal police forces, all of whom were trained at "l'École NATIONALE de police du Québec", we can only conclude that they are in desperate need of better training in human relations, conversational and linguistic skills, the law and the value of honesty. Quite a few of these officers are way too aggressive and ignorant to have been issued a badge and, especially, a loaded gun... they are, without a doubt, "Armed and dangerous" and a menace both to themselves and the general population. They cast a poor reflection on Quebec's "National" police force.

We also question the credibility of such officers. From their signed affidavits, we can only assume that they are stupid or ignorant or both, and that they believe the public and courts are too... either that or they are outright liars. These officers attempt to exploit urban legends and public ignorance to induce the courts into error and to intimidate the public. Such tactics are unethical, dishonest, and are bound to (sooner or later) discredit the honest members of the police force or, possibly, the force as a whole.

Police brotherhoods are more often interested in preserving power than in improving members knowledge. Their “thuggish” attitude towards the public in general, and governing bodies in particular, further discredit police forces and officers in the public eye.

We are saddened, angered and insulted by the actions of such people who hold the sacred trust of the law and abuse that trust. We will however, never accept or condone their actions. We will fight to the bitter end with all our spirit these despicable acts and people.
